Dr. House and His Team's Medical Specialties, Explained.
Previously a specialist in sports medicine and rehabilitation, he joined House's diagnostics team, quickly putting his talents to good use, his intellect, and ingenuity apparent from the get-go. It appeared as though had a bright future in medicine, but would, unfortunately, commit suicide in Season 5, thus bringing his time on the show to an end. Following "House," Tamblyn would play recurring roles on the CBS sitcom, "Two and a Half Men," and the Comedy Central sketch series, "Inside Amy Schumer." However, Tamblyn is more than just an actress; she's also a director, poet, novelist, essayist, and activist. She co-founded the Time's Up movement, and also wrote a feminist-inspired book of poems, "Dark Sparkler."

Laurie has starred in multiple television shows since the conclusion of "House." One of TV's most famous antiheroes, House was a genius, yet despised, doctor who was often able to solve medical puzzles nobody else could. After leaving the show to pursue her film career, Wilde is a burgeoning writer, actress and director, whose directorial debut Booksmart last year premiered to wild praise. Olivia Wilde portrayed Dr. Remy "Thirteen" Hadley on the show, perfectly playing the bisexual M.D. Who also had an interesting storyline involving learning she carried the Huntington's disease gene. Since the show has wrapped, Laurie has had supporting roles in shows like Veep and The Night Manager.
Season 2
Aided by a lead-in from the widely popular American Idol, the following three seasons of the program each ranked in the top ten among all viewers. House reached its peak Nielsen ratings in its third season, attracting an average of 19.4 million viewers per episode. According to Jacobs, the production team was surprised that the show garnered such a large audience. In its fifth season, the show attracted 12.0 million viewers per episode and slipped to nineteenth place overall. House received largely positive reviews on its debut; the series was considered a bright spot amid Fox's schedule, which at the time was largely filled with reality shows. Season 1 holds a Metacritic score of 75 out of 100, based on 30 reviews, indicating "generally favorable" reviews.
After he was cast, he persuaded the producers to turn the character into an Australian. Patrick Dempsey also auditioned for the part of Chase; he later became known for his portrayal of Dr. Derek Shepherd on Grey's Anatomy. Omar Epps, who plays Dr. Eric Foreman, was inspired by his earlier portrayal of a troubled intern on the NBC medical drama ER.

House also frequently drinks liquor when he is not on medical duty, and classifies himself as a "big drinker". Toward the end of Season 5, House begins to hallucinate; after eliminating other possible diagnoses, Wilson and he determine that his Vicodin addiction is the most likely cause. House goes into denial about this for a brief time, but at the close of the season finale, he commits himself to Mayfield Psychiatric Hospital.

His career began with a multi-product fashion manufacturing and distributing company, which expanded into ventures in the cosmetics and real estate industries. Forever indebted to 5BF, the creative team, the tribe, favorite humans, Karen, Bagel, Doode, and Mo. The Perelsons had only lived in the house for a few years — they purchased the home in or before 1956 when they applied for a permit to move a window, records show. His wife Florence died of heart disease on July 1, 1928, and Schumacher died of pneumonia 27 days later. Then the house was rented to several tenants, one of whom died of infection during his tenancy, the podcast reported. The original house was built in 1925 by architect Harry E. Weiner for wholesale fruit seller Harry F. Schumacher for an estimated $20,000 at the time (about $315,000 today), permit applications show.
Cutthroat and conniving, Dr. Amber Volakis all but manipulated her way to the final rounds of House's fellowship trials in Season 4. Her delicate pearls and blonde locks suggested innocence and grace, which Amber was everything but. Amber would tragically exit in a Season 4 finale that fans wouldn't ever forget. However, in true Amber fashion, she found ways of coming back to House's life through his drug-induced psychosis which would serve as a pivotal sub-plot for the third act of the following season. Wilde would later take a leave of absence to work on other projects, before briefly returning to the show.
Lovable and nerdy, this specialist in sports medicine eased himself into the team alongside the other newcomers. Kal Penn would be a recurring cast member from Season 4 to halfway through Season 5. His exit from the show unfolded in a tragic twist, leaving viewers startled. Dean of Medicine and complex romantic interest to House, Lisa Cuddy bent the rules and sidelined HR complaints for House in the name of diagnostics — or was it nepotism? The real reason Edelstein left "House" was due to conflicts over contract renewals and pay cuts.
In the Season 3 episode Family, Foreman announces his resignation, telling House, "I don't want to turn into you." During the season finale, House tells Chase that he has either learned everything he can, or nothing at all, and dismisses him from the team. A significant plot element is House's use of Vicodin to manage pain, caused by an infarction in his quadriceps muscle five years before the show's first season, which also forces him to use a cane. In the first season, 11th episode Detox, House admits he is addicted to Vicodin, but says he does not have a problem because the pills "let me do my job, and they take away my pain". His addiction has led his colleagues, Cuddy and Wilson, to encourage him to go to drug rehabilitation several times. When he has no access to Vicodin or experiences unusually intense pain, he occasionally self-medicates with other narcotic analgesics such as morphine, oxycodone, and methadone.
Attanasio was inspired to develop a medical procedural drama by The New York Times Magazine column, "Diagnosis" written by physician Lisa Sanders, an attending physician at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Fox bought the series, though the network's then-president, Gail Berman, told the creative team, "I want a medical show, but I don't want to see white coats going down the hallway". Jacobs has said that this stipulation was one of the many influences that led to the show's ultimate form. As Shore put it, "We knew the network was looking for procedurals, and Paul Attanasio came up with this medical idea that was like a cop procedural. The suspects were the germs. But I quickly began to realize that we needed that character element. I mean, germs don't have motives."
Their physical relationship does not progress any further during the fifth season; in the finale, House believes he and Cuddy had sex, but this is a hallucination brought on by House's Vicodin addiction. Individual episodes of the series contain additional references to the Sherlock Holmes tales. The main patient in the pilot episode is named Rebecca Adler after Irene Adler, a character in the first Holmes short story, "A Scandal in Bohemia". In the Season 2 finale, House is shot by a crazed gunman credited as "Moriarty", the name of Holmes' nemesis. In the Season 4 episode It's a Wonderful Lie, House receives a "second-edition Conan Doyle" as a Christmas gift.
Even so, he always managed to stick around, providing House with loyalty, companionship, and oftentimes enabling his addictive behavior — whether he realized it or not. "The thing I would say to international viewers is, watch the show. Have fun and take this journey with us as we grow into a mega-show," he exclaimed during an initial press round. It wouldn't be long before Epps' prediction rang true, as his contract would be renewed for all eight seasons. Laurie stepped (uh, limped) into the role of the arrogant doctor with a humbler approach. "One of the things that makes me feel guilty about playing this role is that my dad was a doctor," Laurie told USA Today. "He was a very gentle soul and, I think, a very good doctor. And I'm probably being paid more to become a fake version of my own father."
After departing Princeton Plainsboro for good, Epps would go on to network-hop over to ABC, where he'd star in the primetime drama "Resurrection," which, for a midseason premiere, was welcomed with impressive numbers in viewership and ratings. Epps would later reunite with House alum Jennifer Morrison for a few episodes in "This is Us." Epps will soon be seen in Lee Daniels' upcoming Netflix horror film "The Deliverance," slated for a 2023 release. Charlyne Yi joined the cast of "House" as Dr. Chi Park, a major character in the eighth and last season of the series. Park plays a shy, introverted young doctor who is often bewildered by House's inappropriate behavior and outlandish professionalism. By the end of the series, House has gotten Park out of her shell a bit, ready to continue her medical career with experience and confidence. Odette Annable played the major role of Dr. Jessica Adams in "House" for the last two seasons of the series.
He was promoted to vice president of finance in 1970 and vice president and general counsel in 1971. Approximately 75% of all undergraduate students receive financial aid, and more than 1,800 scholarships are awarded each year. The scholarship includes tuition, fees, books, room, four summer experiences, and an $8,000 grant for community service initiatives. Each student is responsible for the proper completion of his or her academic program, for familiarity with the Catalog, for maintaining the grade point average required, and for meeting all other degree requirements. Students assume academic and financial responsibility for the courses in which they enroll and are relieved of these responsibilities only by formally terminating enrollment.

All of them play doctors who work at the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in New Jersey. Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie), the title character, heads the Department of Diagnostic Medicine. At first, the producers were looking for a "quintessentially American person" to play the role of House. Bryan Singer in particular felt there was no way he was going to hire a non-American actor for the role. At the time of the casting session, Hugh Laurie was in Namibia filming the movie Flight of the Phoenix.

He assembled an audition tape in a hotel bathroom, the only place with enough light, and apologized for its appearance (which Singer compared to a "bin Laden video"). Singer was very impressed by his performance and commented on how well the "American actor" was able to grasp the character. Singer was not aware that Laurie was English, due to his convincing American accent. Laurie credits the accent to "a misspent youth watching too much TV and too many movies". Although locally better-known actors such as Denis Leary, David Cross, Rob Morrow, and Patrick Dempsey were considered for the part, Shore, Jacobs, and Attanasio were as impressed as Singer and cast Laurie as House. Lawrence Kaplow, Peter Blake, and Thomas L. Moran joined the staff as writers at the beginning of the first season after the making of the pilot episode.

House's Best Season Broke The Show's Formula (& Was Much Better For It).
Premiering on FOX, "House, M.D." swiftly garnered the adoration of audiences and soon renewed for another season almost as fast as one could say "it's never lupus". In addition to her work on screen, Annable has an eye for interior design and made headlines when she decided to fix up her family's Austin residence. The remodel might actually open doors for her career outside of Hollywood, but regardless of whether she continues working as an actress or makes a late-in-life career move, she's definitely got a lot left in store for her fans. In 2008, Gregory House was voted second sexiest television doctor ever, behind ER's Doug Ross (George Clooney).

The judge reprimands Tritter for pursuing House to excess, and tells House that she thinks he "has better friends than he deserves", referring to Cuddy's 11th-hour testimony on his behalf. House is sentenced to one night in jail for contempt of court and finishes his rehabilitation under the influence of Vicodin. In 2022, Wilde directed her second feature, "Don't Worry Darling," a psychological thriller starring Florence Pugh, Chris Pine, and former One Direction singer Harry Styles. Diagnosed with terminal Huntington's disease, Thirteen appeared in 81 episodes of "House." In 2001, Leonard won a Tony Award for best featured actor in a play for his portrayal of poet A. Since then, Edelstein has had roles in "The Good Doctor," "The Kominsky Method," and most recently, "Little Bird."
Recurring characters
It was updated in Season 8 removing Edelstein's name and added Annable and Yi. The pilot episode was filmed in Vancouver, Canada; primary photography for all subsequent episodes has been shot on the Fox lot in Century City, Los Angeles. Bryan Singer chose the hospital near his hometown, West Windsor, New Jersey, as the show's fictional setting. Princeton University's Frist Campus Center is the source of the aerial views of Princeton‑Plainsboro Teaching Hospital seen in the series.
House describes himself as "a board-certified diagnostician with a double specialty of infectious disease and nephrology". Dr. James Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard), House's one true friend, is the head of the Department of Oncology. Dr. Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein), an endocrinologist, is House's boss, as she is the hospital's dean of medicine and chief administrator. House has a complex relationship with Cuddy, and their interactions often involve a high degree of innuendo and sexual tension.
Stacy Warner (Sela Ward), House's ex-girlfriend, appears in the final two episodes of Season 1, and seven episodes of Season 2. She wants House to treat her husband, Mark Warner (Currie Graham), whom House diagnoses with acute intermittent porphyria in the Season 1 finale. Stacy and House grow close again, but House eventually tells Stacy to go back to Mark, which devastates her.
Dr. Allison Cameron - Jennifer Morrison
Adams first meets House while working as an infirmary doctor in the prison he is being held in. The two quickly hit it off, and once House is released from jail and allowed to return to Princeton-Plainsboro, he recruits Adams to come with him. Peter Jacobson joined the cast of "House" in the fourth season as Dr. Christopher Michael Taub, commonly referred to as "Taub." He played a generally kindhearted, but also anxious and insecure member of the diagnostic team. He is smart, but never smarter than House, and often gets distracted by personal issues such as his frequent infidelity and eventual divorce.
The series' premise originated with Paul Attanasio, while David Shore, who is credited as creator, was primarily responsible for conceiving the title character. Gregory House, M.D., often construed as a misanthropic medical genius, heads a team of diagnostic fellows at the Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in New Jersey. Most episodes revolve around the diagnosis of a primary patient and start with a cold open precredits scene set outside the hospital, showing events ending with the onset of the patient's symptoms. The typical episode follows the team in their attempts to diagnose and treat the patient's illness, which often fail until the patient's condition is critical.
They usually treat only patients whom other doctors have not accurately diagnosed, and House routinely rejects cases that he does not find interesting. The story lines tend to focus on his unconventional medical theories and practices, and on the other characters' reactions to them, rather than on the details of the treatments. Following "House," Spencer stuck with the emergency response beat and joined the cast of NBC's primetime drama series, "Chicago Fire" as firefighter Matt Casey. While a main character in "Chicago Fire," Casey would also make crossover appearances in the related Chicago-verse series, "Chicago P.D." and "Chicago Med," bringing his total Chicago episode count to 213.
They were credited as "Also Starring", with their names appearing after the opening sequence. In Season 7, Jacobson and Wilde received star billing; new regular cast member Tamblyn did not. House's original team of diagnosticians consists of Dr. Eric Foreman (Omar Epps), a neurologist; Dr. Robert Chase (Jesse Spencer), an intensivist; and Dr. Allison Cameron (Jennifer Morrison), an immunologist.
Intelligent and hard-working, Foreman's ambitions wouldn't go unnoticed, as he'd later claim the title of Dean of Medicine in a later season. Though he struggled to admit it, Foreman oftentimes recognized similarities between him and House — a realization that no person of upstanding morals or a hint of ethical beliefs would ever want to have. Fearing he'd continue to pick up on House's unprincipled ways, Foreman excused himself from the team in Season 3. "I murdered the American accent," Aussie-native Jesse Spencer exclaimed, recalling how Chase was initially intended to be an American doctor. However, after a few discussions with director and executive producer Bryan Singer, Chase eventually evolved from American to British to Australian. Spencer would appear in all eight seasons of House, despite getting fired from House's team in Season 3, and then ultimately taking over House's title as Head of Diagnostics in Season 8.
As the show's titular, grumpy doctor, Hugh Laurie led eight seasons of the iconic show and scooped up Golden Globe awards in the process. No longer a world where an idealized doctor has all the answers or a hospital where gurneys race down the hallways, House's focus is on the pharmacological—and the intellectual demands of being a doctor. The trial-and-error of new medicine skillfully expands the show beyond the format of a classic procedural, and at the show's heart, a brilliant but flawed physician is doling out the prescriptions—a fitting symbol for modern medicine.
His character was a part of the team of diagnosticians who worked under House until the end of the third season when House fires him. Jacobson has starred in a number of television series and movies, including "Ray Donovan," "Cars 2," and "Transformers." Jennifer Morrison played Dr. Allison Cameron, another of Dr. House's team and Chase's wife, between seasons one and six of "House." After playing the NAACP Image Award-winning role, Epps went on to play major roles in Resurrection, Shooter and recently took on a recurring role in NBC's This Is Us. Robert Sean Leonard played Dr. James Wilson, who was House's only true friend and quite frankly one of our favorite supporting actors thanks to their buddy dynamic. After her role as Dr. Chi Park, Charlyne Yi landed a variety of co-stars in movies like This Is 40, Second Act and Always Be My Maybe and also voices various characters on the animated series Steven Universe.
Since retiring as House, Laurie took a brief Hollywood hiatus but returned to lend his talents to a variety of critically acclaimed series. He also starred as haunted politician Peter Laurence in the 2020 BBC thriller mini-series, "Roadkill." Hugh Laurie stole the show as Dr. Gregory House, the cynical yet brilliant man everyone loved to hate, and hated to love. House is one of the best anti-heroes in TV history because while he may be obnoxious and unbearable at times, he's also the only person with the brains to save the unsavable patients.
All hustle and bustle of the daily life leaves behind while feeling the peace and serenity on air. 2000 years ago, The Great Temple of Artemis was attracting same kind of attention in Ephesus. Inside the house are crutches and canes said to be left behind by those who were healed by the sacred spring. The small, T-shaped stone building consists of a bedroom (on the right) and a kitchen (on the left). The interior is kept simple and austere, fitted only with an altar, images of Mary and candles. The shrine is still in the care of the Lazarist Fathers, who celebrate Mass here every day.
Visiting Mary’s House in Ephesus
Traditions suggest that Mary Magdalene accompanied others to southern France, and a well-established belief places Mary, the Mother of Jesus, in Ephesus. However, historical records for these events are limited, and our understanding relies on isolated passages that reflect traditional beliefs.

She was only beatified in 2004 by Pope John Paul II, but not on the basis of Brentano's books but because of her sanctity and virtue. A decade later Servant of God Marie de Mandat-Grancey, a French nun, had been working at a hospital relatively nearby in the city of Smyrna (now Izmir). In 1881 a French priest, having read The Life of the Blessed Virgin Mary, put Emmerich’s visions to the test. Father Julien Gouyet found a house which conformed to the descriptions, and obviously was in a state of disrepair, having used the book as a guide. Most people have tremendous difficulty believing that our world can be as strange as it truly is.

From the Magnesia Gate the road climbs to the south, arriving after 8 kilometers at the House of the Virgin Mary. Believed to be where the mother of Jesus spent her last years, the house sits in a forest on Mt Bülbül at an altitude of 358 meters above sea level.
Behind the house is the Well of Mary, and any visit to the shrine usually includes a drink of the curative waters. The most recent archaeological investigations were not made at the chapel itself, but in the garden about 80 meters to the west of the house. Surprisingly, the archaeologists discovered that the original structure was the atrium of the residential house that already existed in the 1st century BCE. Because of this revolutionary dating, these latest findings have reopened the vast area of speculations about the authenticity of the House of St. Mary. The House of the Virgin Mary has an enormous significance for Muslims, for whom Mary was the mother of one of the great prophets of Islam, called İsa Peygamber, i.e. The main focus of Muslim visitors arriving from all parts of Turkey today, besides the sacred spring, is the so-called Quran Room, supposedly the bedroom of Mary.

This hidden stone building on the Turkish mountainside of Mount Koressos, has long drawn the interest of pilgrims, researchers, and the believers. In this article we will tackle the mystery surrounding the House of the Virgin Mary. Perhaps because of its out-of-the-way location, the site of the House of the Virgin Mary was never overbuilt with a massive cathedral or mosque. The small brown and grey brick shrine now appears today much as it has for centuries. The building, about the size of a small modern house, incorporates the original 1st century dwelling as well as an expansion that encloses Mary’s Tomb.
Sister Marie received permission to purchase the property including the house and the mountain the house stood on was purchased in her name and then she restored the house, making it a place of pilgrimage. The house is a two-story structure which contained an anteroom, bedroom and prayer room which is considered the Christian Church area. Up high in the mountains, the area is particularly beautiful and immensely peaceful.
Officially, the Republic of Turkey is a secular state, ruling over a Muslim-majority population. Imams there are considered civil servants, educated and hired by the Directorate of Religious Affairs (called the Diyanet), which does much to curb potential radicalization of the population. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, a military hero and founder the republic, who could hardly be considered any kind of religious figure, still retains demigod status throughout the land. Most of ancient Ephesus is now a ruin, and there is little in the modern town of any real interest. However, not too far from Mary’s House is the Grotto of the Seven Sleepers, a cave where Christians came to hide from Roman persecutors. Pilgrims can also visit the ruins of the Temple of Artemis, one of the seven original wonders of the world, where Paul once evangelized and challenged the pagan religious authorities.
Spring, from April to May, and autumn, from September to October, offer pleasant weather with milder temperatures and less crowded tourist conditions. During these seasons, you can enjoy the serene atmosphere and explore the site comfortably without the scorching heat of summer or the chill of winter. However, checking the specific weather conditions and any potential events or festivals that might affect your travel plans before visiting is essential. Especially in the Roman period, Ephesus was the capitol of the Asia Minor, with its glamorous buildings and works of art.
It continued to spread, until three sides of the Meryemana Evi were surrounded, and a burning tree had fallen on the roof. The history of the land is very impressive, and also with a fair share of troubling episodes. The Christian heritage of Asia Minor, where several Apostles themselves had set foot, and of Constantinople, the historic center of Eastern Christianity, is very much astounding.

Most serious club table tennis players understand how complex table tennis is and don’t think of you as any less of an athlete or a person even if you keep losing to most other club players for years to come. Most are more than willing to help you nonetheless, in every way possible to improve your skill level, regardless of whether you are an absolute beginner or even an advanced player. Even if you are not interested in spending lots of money on equipment, you can get a good “basic” setup for less than $100 that can last for years.

Educating the existing athletic educators to help more people understand the sports potential and benefits. Then it must be tossed up at least 6 inches and struck so the ball first bounces on the server’s side and then the opponent’s side. If the serve touches the net but would have otherwise been good, it is called a “let” serve. Sometimes all you want to know are the basic rules to play a friendly match of table tennis.
Junior Program
Detailed lesson plans and player progress tracking allow us to bring in more educators and trainers as needed. The levels give players defined goals that are attained by their own design and labor. They choose how much training between each education session. Each player, educator, and trainer knows where they are in a linear developmental program so progress from any starting point can be made quickly. Welcome to the world of table tennis and congratulations on taking the steps to move up to the Olympic athletic sport of table tennis from the recreational basement game of ping-pong.

The skills test and cumulative exam will require a passing score to unlock the next educational level. Each education level has a corresponding training package. Players use the training service to help get a passing grade on the final examinations. A recreational ping-pong player's first visit to a competitive table tennis club can be daunting. There are youngsters whose shoulders barely clear the tabletop hitting forehand topspin balls at astonishing velocity and octogenarians whose skill with long pips rubber makes the ball seem to defy the laws of physics. Many of us grew up playing ping-pong in a basement or garage, with a recreational or even homemade table and hard rubber pips out paddles from Sears.
For youth athletes that wish to continue with our training and direction, we provide three services. A match is generally played best 3 of 5 games (or occasionaly 4/7 or 5/9). For each game, the first player to reach 11 points wins that game.
This is a group program of various education and training sessions that will be 30 minutes in duration. Multiple sessions can be scheduled, for example 1 education and 1 training, or 2 training. It is not recommended scheduling 2 educational sessions consecutively. Because playing with peers increases social abilities, confidence, identity, and overall skill perspective we provide a weekly competitive environment.

First Time? What to Expect ?
We have long retired members, 6 year old prodigies and all between. We have long retired members, 6 year old prodigies, and all between. We are striving to make this as affordable as possible and are one of the least expensive table tennis clubs in the country. This also means that if you do not pay you will not be able to play. After a brief warmup (generally 2-5 minutes maximum), the players “choose” the server.
Each player serves two points in a row and then the service switches to the other player. However, if a score of is reached in any game (deuce), then each server serves only one point at a time until one player wins two points in a row. In the final game (i.e., 5th game of a 3/5 match), the players switch sides again after EITHER player reaches 5 points and then play resumes as normal. Now the club and academy are working to provide an educational environment for everyone.
However, it’s important to keep certain simple facts in mind before choosing to move up to the sport of table tennis as a serious club player. Table tennis is an extremely racket-sensitive sport and dependent not only on your own playing style but your opponent’s as well. Even many advanced players, let alone newcomers, have absolutely no clue whatsoever about the complexity of modern rackets. Our program for developing a player’s table tennis skill has three levels. Each level consists of four one-hour education sessions, and player progress is evaluated through four multiple choice quizzes, a skills test, and a cumulative multiple choice exam.
Advances in technique and the technology of sponge rubber and paddle construction elevate the recreational game of ping-pong to the (at the highest levels) the Olympic sport of table tennis. Charlotte Table Tennis Academy's mission is to provide quality table tennis education and training. We strive to educate as quickly as possible and maintain consistent training schedules.
Park ONLY in the designated spaces and DO NOT double park. The Charlotte Table Tennis Club meets at First United Methodist Church in uptown Charlotte. We use the door on the north side of the church toward the back, between the small surface parking lot and the playground. We have partnered with the Charlotte Table Tennis Club and their 30 year presence in the community. When we met they were lacking a strong development program for their club members. Together we were able to succeed in meeting both our missions.
However, a game must be won by at least a two point margin (11-9 for example). A table will be made available in the open area for multiple youth to play while waiting for a session, after, or in between sessions. There is a small surface lot with a very limited number (10) spaces. This lot is NOT available before 6 PM on weekdays or before 1 PM on Sundays.
Or, many experienced players will have rackets they no longer use that they will let you try out and then if you like it will sell it to you for much less than the cost of a new racket and new rubbers. Table tennis skills and equipment (rubbers and rackets) are much more complex than the recreational meanderings of basement ping-pong. Table tennis is a sport of a billion unique individual styles (due to infinite combinations of standard and unorthodox grips, stroke execution mechanics and racket designs).
Though it is often incorrectly oversimplified down to a few basic styles, grips and rackets, every player needs to find a racket that exactly matches his/her playing style. As you lose over and over to every conceivable style of play you are learning from your beatings. Keep in mind that even a low level club player has more consistency, more touch and better rackets compared to most newcomers. This is no different than the difference between professional players and amateurs in any sport. If you are willing to work on improving your skills you can become a true table tennis competitor. Understand that you will likely lose A LOT of matches at the start.
